Lucknow: Awadh Cultural Festival was an enthusiastic cultural event organized by the artists of Swar India Association in the Mohan Singh Bisht Auditorium of Uttarakhand Maha Parishad Bhawan, Kurmanchal Nagar. Before Holi and Ram Navami, the entire event was cast in the hues of Rama and Awadhi culture.
The program started with the organization’s President Colonel Harshvardhan Gupta and Secretary Hem Singh welcoming the guests and people present in the auditorium by lighting the lamp and elaborating about their activities.
The program started with Nivedita Banerjee’s Shri Ram Stuti Thumak Chalat Ramchandra… conducted by Nandini. Next, Awadhi folk dance Badriya Gher Aayi Nandi… was presented.
Shinjani Sarkar presented the praise of Goddess Saraswati in emotional dance movements on Raga Hindolam. In the same sequence, the sixth edition of Awadhi singing and folk songs by Sushmit Tripathi, Swechha Verma, Anjuli Srivastava, Shubhanki Singh etc. sang musical songs like – Sabpe Chadha Bhagwa Rang…., and Holi song – Shyam Teri Bansi Mera Naam Ratte.
Further in the group, the artists showed a glimpse of hill dances mixed with Dandiya folk dance on songs like – Himgiri Thanaye Hemlate…. Along with the mesmerizing renditions of Bharatnatyam’s Mahatripura Sundari on Raga Amba, the artistes presented Sufi dance on songs like – Mora Mursid Khele Holi….. It ended with a colorful and celebratory presentation of Banke Bihari Holi playing.
In these presentations, artists Sanchali Raj, Khushi Sonkar, Isha Srivastava, Anya Madar, Lakshmi, Arna Bhatt, Vartika Ojha, Shivani, Shailendra Singh, Deepa, Tamanna, Jyoti, Anshika Singh and Swarupa Singh etc. came on stage. The concept and music direction of the entire presentation was by Hem Singh, dance collaboration and costume design was by Swarupa Singh and Haritima Pant.
As accompaniment artists, Krishna Mohan on the drum pad, Rajesh Tiwari on the dholak and Vijay Sahni on the organ showed their talent. In the end, the guests and officials of the organization honored the artists and gave them certificates and the Secretary of the organization Hem Singh concluded by thanking everyone.
